G.I.P. Laboratory: Field-coil Loudspeakers

G.I.P. Laboratory was founded by Shinichi Suzuki, both a talented musician and designer/builder of audio equipment. Mr. Suzuki was always looking for the best reproduction of music. Western Electric is considered a pioneer in the audio field and many see its classic products as the best ever created. Against this background, Mr. Suzuki founded G.I.P. Laboratory. The task that this company has set before its eyes is to bring today’s music and audio lovers the same sound and audio quality that has almost been forgotten. G.I.P. Laboratory produces modern but accurate versions of drive units and speaker models manufactured by Western Electric in the 1920’s and 1930’s, which are the best speakers based on field coil technology, i.e., electromagnets instead of magnet power connection.

All units, enclosures, electronics (cross-overs, power supplies, etc.) and anything else in the speakers of G.I.P. Laboratory are handcrafted by a small and skilled team of engineers who do everything necessary to achieve the most accurate reproduction of the original WE products and if real improvement can be achieved, they do so. The people at G.I.P. Laboratory see themselves as a group of music-loving audiophiles and only then as engineers. Commitment to quality, uncompromising attitude and aspiration for the best possible sound is a guiding light for those engaged in the work.
